As you switch over to your next set of Invisalign aligners<\/a>, does it feel like they don’t fit? You may be a bit worried about how uncomfortable they are, and it leading to delays in your treatment. Thankfully, that may not be the case! It takes some time to get used to them. Here are three tips that you can use to help you get adjusted to them to ensure your treatment stays on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

1.)  Give Yourself Some Grace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The initial discomfort while you wear your new trays is expected. It\u2019s normal because your teeth will need time to adjust and shift into the new alignment. You are slowly moving your smile into a healthier bite, so these movements are what help you get there! It’s likely that you will feel a bit sore every time you switch over to your next set, so be patient with yourself. Know that the minor discomfort means your treatment is working!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.)  Wear Your Aligners for 22 Hours a Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It might be tempting to take out your Invisalign trays when they don’t feel right. If you do this consistently, then it could be the reason your next set isn’t fitting properly. It’s important to wear them for 20 to 22 hours every day, so that your teeth get the continuous pressure they need to shift. Without doing so, you risk causing delays to your treatment. Be sure only to remove them when you are eating or drinking something other than water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.)  Use Chewies to Help Your Aligner Sit Properly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you put in your clear aligners, do you feel like you can’t get them on all the way? You can try using a handy tool known as an Invisalign chewy. These are small, soft cylinders that you bite while you have your trays in. Gnawing on them for a bit over your entire dental arch will help you slide them into place. It’s helpful to use these chewies after cleaning your trays or when you switch over to a new set!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you may have been nervous about your ill-fitting aligners, try out these three tips above! If you find that they still don\u2019t sit right, call your dentist to ensure that you have no delays in your treatment. By the end, you\u2019ll have a new smile that you can show off and feel proud of!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
